How do I get to the 33rd Annual National Conference at Omni Amelia Island Plantation? 

Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), Jacksonville, FL. Approximately 30 minutes from Omni Amelia Island Plantation. 

The Omni Amelia Island Plantation Transportation department provides direct service to and from the Jacksonville International Airport with no additional hotel stops. 72 hour advance reservations are required and can be made by calling 904-261-6161. Reservations that are requested less than 72 hours in advance cannot be guaranteed. Roundtrip Shuttle Service: $60 per person one way.

RCRA Transportation will be provided on Saturday, November 9th from JAX airport to Omni AIP from 12pm to 6pm for $15. RCRA Transportation will also be provided on Wednesday, November 13th from Omni AIP to JAX airport from 6am to 12pm.

Reservations for this transportation can be made while registering for the conference. Requests and flight itinerary should also be emailed directly to Bruce Boliver at bruce.boliver@rcra.org.

*Flights booked outside of these times may not be eligible for RCRA transportation. In the event your flight does not coincide with RCRA transportation, other arrangements can be made through Omni AIP for $60 each way.

The National Conference offers attendees an exchange of ideas and an opportunity to attend events and educational sessions which promote the growth of our profession. Interviews will take place with leading recreation employers for internships, part-time and full-time position vacancies. Students, Professors, Vendors and Professionals are all welcome to attend.

Where do I pick up my registration packet?
Attendees can register and pick up their conference packets at the RCRA Registration Desk on Saturday, November 9th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm or Sunday, November 3rd starting at 9am. The Registration Desk will be open during specified times throughout the conference.

What is there to do while at Omni Amelia Island Plantation?

Internship and Job Fair
Calling all properties looking to hire interns, part or full-time employees and attendees looking to apply for these positions, this is for you! The Internship and Job Fair information session is the time for attendees to pick up information about the commercial facilities and drop off resumes for an opportunity to interview with them. Students wanting to interview are REQUIRED to sign up at the internship/job fair. Note: The Internship and Job Fair lasts ninety minutes. Attendees should narrow down prospective facilities prior to this session, as it is impossible to meet all the facilities during this time. Each property must purchase a booth to participate. Each booth is $65 and includes one interviewer. Properties interested in having more than one person interview may purchase additional slots at $25 per interviewer (10 additional slots total). 

Job postings will be available for review at the registration table.

Internship and Job Fair Draft
Attendance at the Internship and Job Fair Draft is mandatory for all employers who will be interviewing at the conference. This closed session will take place at 6:45pm Monday evening. Please be prompt, as we will begin developing the interview schedules immediately 

When will the Job Fair Interviews take place?
The internship & job fair interviews will take place on Tuesday morning. Participants will be able to pick up their interview schedules between 8:00pm and 8:30pm on Monday evening at the RCRA Registration Desk. All interviews will be 20 minutes. 

Property Showcase
Not able to make it to the National Conference? Send us your marketing and job fair material and we will showcase your property to interns and potential associates for you! Participants must hold a current RCRA membership to participate in this service. Cost: $65.

What about meals?
Monday’s 411 Breakfast and Tuesday evening’s RCRA Gala meals are included in the cost of conference registration. Restaurants at Omni Amelia Island Plantation are as follows: Marche Burette, Marsh View Bar & Grill, Oceanside Restaurant, Natural Slice, Sunrise Café, Falcon’s Nest, Seaglass Lounge & In-room Dining.

What is the President’s Social?
The President’s social is a networking opportunity to socialize with other attendees in a casual atmosphere. 

What will happen at the 311 Breakfast and the RCRA Gala?
At the 411 Breakfast the RCRA annual business meeting will take place. Members with voting privileges will also cast their vote on the open RCRA Board positions. The Outstanding Student and Professor Award will be given out as well as the Premier Recreation Operation Award, Excellence in Programming Award, Newcomer Award, and the Dedication to Success Award will be presented.

During the RCRA Gala, the induction of the new officers will take place. The Debbie Regnone Service award the Howard Uibel Lifetime Achievement Award and the Fellow Award may be given to individuals in the industry. The fund-raising Auction will also take place. Members can bid on weekend and three-day packages from some of RCRA’s finest member properties. Don’t miss the chance to buy a weekend vacation for only a fraction of it’s normal cost! We will also showcase where the 34th Annual National Conference will be located.

What is the RCRA Auction and what can I do to help out? 
Over 20 fantastic resort packages and more to choose from! Bidding is easy. There are minimum starting bids for each package that reflect extraordinary values. It's an excellent opportunity to vacation at a luxurious member property and help RCRA at the same time. We ask that properties donate a 2-3+ night stay at their property, with possible amenities included (golf, spa, recreation, etc.) Vendors are encouraged to donate product to be auctioned off. All auction bidding will begin and conclude at the All-Conference Banquet Tuesday evening. If you are interested in donating please contact Alison Jenks at alison.jenks@rcra.org. 

What are the Vendor Highlights and Visit with the Vendors?
Vendors that are registered to attend the conference are invited to present at the Vendor Highlights. Each vendor will have the opportunity to speak about their product to the attendees following the Keynote Speaker session. Visit with the Vendors will begin immediately following the Highlight. Vendors are welcome to remain set up to showcase for the remainder of the day on Sunday and on Monday. Professionals that know of any vendors that may be interested in joining RCRA please pass along their contact information to Kari Bowman at kari.bowman@rcra.org .

When making reservations, credit cards will be charged for the first room night. Any cancelations must be made at least 72 hours prior to arrival. Any guaranteed reservation not canceled at least 72 hours in advance will be subject to 2 nights room & tax applied to the credit card on file.
